Steeped in history dating back to 1905, Hotel New Central is located in the heart of Dhour El Choueir. Founded by Youssef Elias Kiame, it has witnessed several restorations over the course of three decades to become a place synonymous with authentic Lebanese tradition. Shortly after in 1932, Michel Youssef Kiame and his family expanded the hotel to create a place where the past and the present break even and revealed colorfully modern interiors within vernacular architectural forms.
The hotel is a tribute to Youssef Elias Kiame as it was the very home in which he raised his family; it has always been filled with laughter and joy, and it is still to this day. Ever since its inception, Hotel New Central stormed into the hearts of all Lebanese and visitors from all over the world with its centuries-old Lebanese hospitality that created emotional ties to the Lebanese culture.
The hotel buzzed with historic figures like royal families, Pashas of Egypt, and leaders throughout history, and many prestigious events have been held at the hotel throughout the years like Miss Tourism, and charity events, amongst many others.
Hotel New Central invites you to travel back in time to history. As soon as you step into the hotel, you are immersed in a sequential spatial, holistic, and multisensory experience. Perched in a peaceful mountain setting, the natural light floods the interior and the space flows harmoniously with the mighty and serene Dhour El Choueir nature. The Hotel took inspiration from natural elements like the cedar tree forest, sunshine and blues of the Mediterranean Sea, and places of cultural significance like the Byblos ruins. Various aspects of the Lebanese culture were also reinterpreted to create a continuous thread throughout the property.
